It was not too long ago that I was a clueless teenager with no bearings as to what to do in life after the comfort of school and shielding of my parents were no longer be there. It was a crucial time in my life as for my next step would determine how the rest of the life would shape up to be.
After extensive research on all the colleges of mass communication, I stumbled upon Apeejay Stya University, I had never heard the name of the college before and it was because of a silly mistake I chose to assess the college initially. I thought Apeejay was named after A.P.J Abdul Kalam, and had links with the former president himself but after I researched I got to know that both the things had no relation to each other by long distance. However; through mistake or destiny, I picked the college or should I say the college picked me. The college got in touch with me and the talks began from there and as it suited me and my ambitions from 16th August 2015, I was an Apeejaite. There were lots of things that attracted me and were a major factor in my decisions and the biggest one being the unique academic structure of the college. It is important to have an identity and Apeejay’s identity was something I could relate with.
The college was built on the foundation of holistic knowledge struck the cord with me. Being a liberal arts university, it provides students with the opportunity to not only learn from their respective field but gain experience from other disciplines as well and while branding it as making students the trade of all jacks would be an overstatement, it definitely makes sure you are not just a one trick pony. So as a young 18 year old boy who had no clear idea as what to do with life but the mindset of conquering the world, I felt it was exactly the thing I needed. Where I could learn my trades in my chosen field of creativity and entertainment and at the same time explore other things as well.
After One and a half year I think now I’m at a stage where I can provide a much reliable assessment of the college and judging by my experience it has been a memorable ride. I live in the hostel and my friends are all from different courses. We have done so many things and that I think have been the most amazing things because we all have different talents and tools, we make up a good team and the results for those have been quite amazing, whether it has been the drama association we formed or the short film we made together. Working with different types of people teaches you a lot of things and as the course structure is such you will find yourself in such situations most of the time.
I learned so much from this university. I am thankful for all my teachers and dean for that. The seniors helped a lot I recommend this college for doing pharmacy. I loved it and I made so many new friends here I miss my college days.
