UCEED 2017 is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, under the guidance of the UCEED Admission Committee 2017. It is open to all nationals (Indian as well as foreign nationals). It is important for candidates to appear for UCEED 2017 Eligibility Criteria to pursue Bachelor’s of Design programme offered at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) and Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM).

Eligibility Criteria

Interested candidates must fulfill all the criteria required for appearing for UCEED 2017 or their application forms will be rejected:

  • Candidates from all the different discipline who have appeared for class 12th in 2016 or are appearing in 2017 from a recognized university are eligible to apply for UCEED 2017.
  • All General/OBC-NCL category candidates should be born on or after October 1, 1997 and all  SC/ST /PWD category candidates should be born on or after October 1, 1992. Candidates should have a valid UCEED 2017 score card.

Exam Pattern

UCEED Exam Pattern

 

  • All the questions in the question paper will in English only
  • The total duration of the exam will be 3 hours
  • The UCEED 2017 will be computer based test
  • Total marks of the question paper will be 300 marks
  • The paper will include a total of 80 questions distributed among the 6 topics  mentioned in the syllabus
  • The UCEED 2017 question paper will be divided into 3 sections

 

Section A: Numerical Answer Type (NAT) question

There is no negative marking for this section. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks.
The questions in this section will not include any choices to choose from. A numeral needs to be entered in the space provided for the answer using the virtual keyboard.

Section B: Multiple Select Questions (MSQs)

There is no negative or partial marks in this section. 4 marks will be awarded to candidates who select all the correct choices and no wrong choice is selected.

This section will include questions that will have one or more than one correct choice among the four given options.

Section C: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

There is negative marking in this section. 3 marks will be awarded for all correct answers and 1 marks will be deducted for the wrong answers.
In this section, the candidates will have to choose one correct options among the given four choices.

Exam Syllabus

The question Paper will include questions from the following topics-

Visualization and Spatial Ability

Knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts, pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test, understanding of transformation and/or manipulation of 2D and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning

Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to look at information, be it quantitative or qualitative in nature, and discern patterns within the information. Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. 

Observation and Design Sensitivity

Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, situations, people and events, and thinking critically about them. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes. Applying attention to certain analysis, details, reasoning, classifying, interfering and predicting.

Language and Creativity

Reading comprehension, knowledge of English grammar such as sentence structure and usage, the use of tenses, verb pattern, articles and active and passive constructions and vocabulary skills. 

Environmental and Social Awareness

History of art, sculptures and literature. Awareness of social and cultural connection with design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses. 

Design Thinking and Problem Solving

Ability to understand complexity, identify problems, evaluate options, generate alternatives and select solutions. Ability to use visual analogies, signs, metaphors and symbols.
