The NDA exam is conducted by UPSC for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA. This exam is a gateway for the candidates looking forward to joining Defence Forces including Army, Navy and Air Force. This is a national level exam conducted twice a year: NDA I and NDA II to help candidates make a career in Defence services. NDA Exam 2018 schedules for NDA I and NDA II exam has already been released by UPSC. National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination 2018 will be a two-step process where candidates first need to take the exam and then qualify the SSB interview conducted by the Service Selection Board.

NDA I 2018 is expected to be organized on April 22, 2018, while NDA II will be conducted on September 09, 2018. So the candidates planning to take the exam should fill the application form before the last date and start preparation of NDA & NA 2018 exam.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should apply for NDA 2018 exam only when they meet the eligibility criteria. UPSC has predefined some conditions for the candidates who want to apply for the exam. Application of a candidate can be cancelled at any time if they are found to be lying or providing wrong information in the application form. Admission at all the stages of NDA Exam 2018 will be subject to satisfying the NDA Exam 2018 eligibility conditions.

Eligibility conditions will also be verified with reference to the original documents, but this will be done only when the candidates qualify for interview/ Personality Test.

NDA Exam 2018 Eligibility

Nationality

  • An Indian citizen
  • A subject of Bhutan, Nepal or a Tibetan refugee who shifted to India before January 1, 1962, with the objective to settle in India permanently
  • A persn of Indian origin who shifted based from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries

Marital Status

Only unmarried male candidates are allowed to apply for NDA Exam 2018.

Age Limit

  • For NDA I Exam 2018: The candidate should not be born on or before July 02, 1999 and not after July 01, 2002.
  • For NDA Exam 2018 II: The candidate should not be born on or before January 02, 2000 and not after January 01, 2003.

Date of birth given in Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate will be accepted by the Commission and in case of any discrepancy in the Date of Birth, disciplinary action will be taken against the candidate

Educational Qualification

For Army Wing of National Defence Academy

Passed Class 12th of school education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University

Air Force and Naval Wing of National Defence Academy and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy

Class 12th pass in a 10 + 2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination

Note:

·         Students who are appearing in the 12th class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination

·         Candidates who could not clear INSB/PABT are not eligible for Air Force

Physical Fitness:

·         Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2018

·         A candidate who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academies of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply

Application Details

NDA Exam 2018 application process will be only in online mode. Application form submitted through any other mode will not be accepted. Candidates need to visit the official website of UPSC to fill NDA exam 2018 application form. But before filling the application form, it is essential that candidates carefully read detailed instructions available on the official website.

NDA Exam 2018 Application Form

·         NDA 2018 Applications form will be available online from January 1, 2018 for NDA I and from June 6, 2018 for NDA II exam. Candidates need to visit the official website of UPSC to fill the application form. There will be no option of offline application.

·         NDA registration will be a two part process where candidates need to fill their personal details like qualification, communication and other details in Part-I. In the second part of registration process they need to choose the exam centre and pay NDA Exam 2018 application fee.

·         Candidates should keep a scanned copy of images and signature ready in the prescribed format to complete application process.

·         Take printout of the application form for future reference. However, candidates don't need to send printout of the application form to the authorities.

EXAMINATION FEES

Physical:

Interested candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- to be deposited in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/ Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

Note** - Women candidates / SC & ST are exempted from the payment of application fee.  However, OBC candidates need to pay full NDA Exam 2018 application fee.

"Pay by Cash" mode:

Candidates who want to pay NDA exam 2018 application fee in cash will need to print the system generated Pay-in-slip during Part- II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only. "Pay by Cash" mode option will be de-activated at 23.59 hours one day before the closing date of NDA Exam 2018 application form. However, applicants who already generated their Pay-in-slip before deactivation may visit any SBI branch during banking hours and can pay at the counter on the closing date.

A candidate who misses the deadline and finds it impossible to pay by cash on the closing date have no other option than paying the application fee online through debit/ credit card or internet banking and that too before 6.00 pm of the closing date.

Online payment:

Debit/Credit Card or Internet Banking Payment mode on these banks only - State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/ Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore.

Fee once paid will neither be refunded nor be held in reserve for any other government examination in future. 

Exam Pattern

NDA & Naval Academy Examination (I) and (II) Exam Pattern

Having prior knowledge of NDA 2018 exam pattern is essential for the candidates to give their exam preparation a right direction. Given below is NDA 2018 exam pattern for the candidates who want to apply for the exam:

Type of questions: NDA Exam 2018 will have objective type questions

Exam mode: It will be a traditional pen and paper based exam where candidates need to mark their answers on OMR sheet.

Exam duration: Candidates will get a total time of two and half hour for Code 1 and Code 2 each.

Sections: NDA Exam 2018 will be divided in two sections: Mathematics and General Ability

Language: Question paper will be available in both English and Hindi language

Negative marking: Negative marking will be done for every wrong answer.

Counselling/Interview

There will be no counselling in NDA exam 2018. However, it will have an interview process for the candidates who qualify the written examination. Based on the marks scored in the written examination, candidates will be called for the interview process, which is conducted in two stages. Complete interview process of NDA exam will be covered in 4-5 days.

NDA 2018 - Interview Process

NDA 2018 interview process will have two stages:

  • Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR)
  • Picture Perception & Description Test (PP & DT)
  • Complete process will be of 900 marks
  • PP & DT will have interview, group testing officer tasks, conference and psychology tests

Exam Centres

NDA I and NDA II exam 2018 will be conducted at various examination centres selected across India. Candidates need to tell choice of exam centre in Phase II of the NDA exam 2018 application process. However, allotment of final examination centre completely depends on the final decision of the authorities. There will be a ceiling on the number of candidates allotted to different examination centres based on which the candidates will get their centre. The allotment will be completely on first-come-first-allot bases. So the applicants filling forms immediately after release of online application form have high chances of getting examination centres of their choice.
