MAT or Management Aptitude Test is a national level entrance examination for admission to management courses across several colleges in India. MAT is conducted four times in a year i.e. February, May, September and December.  All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts MAT exam. AIMA is an apex body of management which has been organizing a lot of management related activities and initiatives such as Distance Management Education, Management Development Programmes, Special Conferences, Research & Publications, Testing Services, and Competitions. Centre for Management Services (CMS) is the special division of AIMA that undertakes testing and other management services. It conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) that has been approved by the Ministry of HRD as a National Entrance Test. The candidates who wish to pursue post-graduate management courses and have a Bachelor’s degree passed with minimum 50% marks can apply for Management Aptitude Test (MAT).

The registration for MAT 2018 starts within 10-15 days after the announcement of result for each attempt. MAT exam applications can be processed in online mode only. Earlier, there was an option to purchase and submit the form in offline mode but that is not available anymore. The exam is conducted in both, online and offline mode and the exam takers can opt for any or both of the modes. For each of the MAT test mode, specific admit cards are generated. The candidates registering themselves before the due date are only issued the hall ticket. The admit card will only be made available online on the official website of MAT and the candidates will have to dowload the same. The exam takers will have to carry the hall ticket to the examination centres, otherwise, they will not be allowed to sit for the exam.

MAT 2018 will be an objective type of test comprised of 200 questions which will evaluate the candidate’s capability in 5 areas. It will include Language comprehension, Data analysis and sufficiency, Indian & global environment, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning. Duration of the exam will be 150 minutes. The result of MAT is announced by the last week of the same month in which the test is held. The result is declared in online mode and in the form of the scorecard. MAT score card will be comprised of the sectional score, composite score and percentile of the candidate.

Eligibility Criteria

According to AIMA norms, MAT eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • The minimum qualification taking MAT is graduation in any discipline from any recognised University or equivalent recognised degree with at least 50 percent marks.
  • A final year student in any undergraduate (i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc.) can also appear provisionally.
  • There is no age limit for taking MAT
  • Work Experience is not compulsory
  • Usually, there is a minimum percentage requirement in graduation, which is different for different institutions.

Application Details

MAT application form is made available in online mode only. The applicants will have to visit the official website of AIMA MAT, www.aima.in/testing-services/mat/mat.html to access and fill the online MAT exam form. In the application form, the candidates will be required to fill their personal, education, work experience, contact and other details. 

The registration form for MAT exam begins within 10-15 days after the completion of the particular attempt.

EXAMINATION FEES

The candidates interested in applying for the Management Aptitude Test will have to pay the requisite application fee while registering for the test. The registration for MAT exam can be processed in online mode only. The application fee can also be paid using various online payment gateways only, such as Credit Card/Debit Card (ATM Card) / Net Banking.

Exam Centres

List of MAT exam centres is published along with the release of exam notification and application form. AIMA reveals the names of cities where the exam will be held. Candidates will be required to select the test cities while registering for MAT exam. The list of exam cities will be provided in the drop-down menu of the application form. For the offline and online test, test centres will be different. Candidates are advised to select the exam centres as per their convenience and mode of examination. You must fill the exam centres carefully as no changes will be made once the application form is submitted.
