Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2017 will be conducted by one of the seven zonal IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2017. Admissions to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs and the ISM will be based on the scores of JEE Advanced  2017.

Candidates who are aspiring to appear for JEE Advanced 2017 exam must sit for JEE Main 2017 Paper I which is going to be held in the month of April 2017.

IIT JEE Advanced 2017 will be conducted on May 21, 2017 by the 2017 conducting body IIT Madras.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2017 must satisfy all the five criteria given below:

1. Performance in JEE Main 2017: The applicant must be among the top 2, 00,000 including all categories by scoring positive marks in JEE Main 2017 Paper I.

2. Age Criteria: Applicant must have been born on or after October 1, 1991. There will be a relaxation of five years for students belonging to SC, ST and PwD category.

3. Attempts: An aspirant can appear for JEE Advanced two times in consecutive years. Hence, students who appeared for JEE Advanced 2016 for the first time can appear for JEE Advanced 2017 also.

4. Appearance in 10+2 examination: Applicant should have appeared for Class 12th exam for the first time in 2016 or 2017. Those appeared for 12th exams in 2014 or earlier are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2017. However, students whose 10+2 results were declared after June 2015 are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017.

5. Earlier admission at IITs or ISM: Candidate should not have been admitted or accepted any IIT or ISM seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past. Applicants whose admission at IITs or ISM was cancelled are also not eligible.

Also, candidates are allowed to appear for JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years. Therefore, candidates who appeared in JEE (Advanced) 2016 for the first time are also eligible for 2017 application.

 

Application Details

The candidates can apply for JEE Advanced 2017 at online mode only. Applicants are required to visit the online portal of JEE Advanced 2017 i.e. http://www.jeeadv.ac.in/.

After login to the portal, fill up all the required information in the page (including question paper language, exam city etc). Upload scanned copy of all requisite documents. Pay registration fee for JEE Advanced 2017 as per the instructions mentioned in the portal.

According to a survey 20,000 more students will be appearing in JEE Advanced 2017 and this increase in applications will take the total number of applicants to around 2.2. lakhs.

Exam Pattern & Analysis

JEE (Advanced) Exam Pattern & Analysis

The exam pattern consists of two question papers namely, Paper 1 and Paper 2 of three hours duration each. Both the papers are compulsory.

Each question paper consists of three different sections namely, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

The question papers will consist of objective type (multiple choice and numerical answer type) questions designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

Negative marking will be done in case the candidate answers incorrectly.

The applicant must go through the detailed instructions given in the question paper carefully before starting to answer.

The question paper will be in either English or Hindi. Candidates must exercise the choice of question paper language while registering for JEE (Advanced) 2016. Change of question paper language will NOT be entertained after the registration.

JEE Advanced 2016 Analysis

The IIT Guwahati conducted JEE Advanced 2016 in two parts i.e. Paper I & Paper II on May 22, 2016. As many as 2 lacs students appeared in the examination, which was held in two shifts, Paper I from 9 AM to 12 PM and Paper II from 2 PM to 5 PM.

Both the papers, Paper I and Paper II had 54 questions each comprised of 18 marks from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The total marks of both the papers were 372. There were 141 marks questions of Class 11 syllabus and 231 marks questions were from class 12 syllabus.
