Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all India level entrance examination conducted by seventeen National Law Universities (NLUs) rotationally. This is a common entrance exam for admission to undergraduates and post-graduates (LLB and LLM) degree programmes.The CLAT Core Committee made a decision that the test will be conducted by 18 NLUs in a rotation, in order of their establishment. At per the rotation, CLAT 2018 will be organized by Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna.

CLAT is conducted on second Sunday of May every year. Candidates clearing CLAT can use their scores for admission in various private and government law colleges across India. CLAT 2018 important dates have already been announced. CLAT 2018 will be conducted on May 13, 2018, online registration process for which will start from January 1, 2018.

Eligibility Criteria

CLAT eligibility criteria 2018 defines the minimum requirements including age, qualification and minimum percentage of marks in previous exam, candidates need to meet to apply for the exam. Candidates who meet CLAT 2018 eligibility criteria should only fill the application form. Interested candidates can read conditions they need to meet to apply for CLAT 2018 in the information brochure released by the exam conducting authorities.

Eligibility for CLAT 2018 for UG programmes:

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent in any discipline with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST students) from a recognised board. Students appearing in qualifying examination are also eligible for CLAT 2018.

CLAT 2018 Age Limit for UG Courses

Applicants should be 20 years as on July 1, 2018 (22 years in the case of SC/ST and PwD candidates).As per the latest judgment of Supreme Court of India dated 3rd March 2018, there will be no upper age limit for CLAT. 

Eligibility for CLAT 2017 for PG (LLM) programmes:

Educational Qualification:

Aspirants must have completed a three-year LLB OR five-year Integrated LLB OR any other degree in the field of law from a recognised university with minimum 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST students).

CLAT 2018 Age Limit for PG Courses

There is no upper age limit to appear in the CLAT 2018 for LLM programmes.

Application Details

CLAT 2018 application forms will be available online at the official website. The forms are expected to be provided from January 1, 2018 for the exam scheduled on May 13, 2018. Candidates planning to register for CLAT 2018 exam are advised to first read eligibility criteria and proceed with the application process only when they meet the requirements. Also, keep scanned copy of the documents ready with you before filling CLAT application form 2018.

CLAT 2018 Application Form Filling Process:

  • The registration for CLAT 2018 can be done via online mode only, on the official website of CLAT
  • The applicants are required to visit the official website of CLAT 2018 i.e. www.clat.ac.in and click on the tab "Apply Online" on the upper right corner of the website
  • Click on the "Register Yourself" button to sign up by filling up the required information in the registration form
  • If already registered, click on the other tab "Already Registered" to redirect to the login page
  • Now, login to the page and fill up the online application form, upload your recent photograph, signature, and other documents
  • Pay the application fee by using (Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card etc.)
  • Once the payment is done, download the admit card

EXAMINATION FEES

CLAT 2018 application fee is different for different categories. Candidates can check CLAT application fee 2018 in the table below. Candidates can pay the application fee both in online as well as offline mode. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

CLAT Exam Pattern

CLAT 2018 exam will be conducted in online mode for both UG and PG programmes. Candidates should check CLAT 2018 exam pattern not just to understand the type of questions asked in the exam but also to give their preparation a right direction.

CLAT Exam Pattern for UG Courses

There will be 200 questions, which candidates need to solve in 2 hours. There will be one mark for each correct answer while a penalty of 0.25 will be there for each wrong answer.

CLAT Exam Pattern for PG Courses

Candidates applying for CLAT 2018 for PG law courses will have got 150 multiple choice questions (MCQ). The exam will be of 2 hours. Each question will be of 1 mark while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong attempt.

Counselling/Interview

The online counselling will be held after the declaration of CLAT Result 2017.  CLAT qualified students are advised to specify their choice of preferred NLUs through online counselling window which will be available on the CLAT website. The final list of shortlisted candidates will be based on the merit-cum-preference. The counselling
