CA CPT 2017 online application process started from October 4, 2017. The Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test, commonly known as CA CPT Exam. This exam is a gateway to get into the profession of Chartered Accountancy (CA), which is one of the most reputed courses in India. The exam is conducted twice a year, in the months of June and December. CA CPT 2017 first exam was conducted on June 18, 2017, and the second exam will be on December 17, 2017. Candidates who wish to pursue CA can register for the exam after Class X while they can appear for the exam after Class XII. Candidates interested in taking CA CPT 2017 December exam need to apply for the same before November 1, 2017.

Eligibility Criteria

ICAI has some pre-defined conditions for the candidates who are planning for CA CPT Registration for December 2017. It is essential that interested candidates first go through the conditions given in CA CPT Eligibility criteria, and apply for the exam only when they meet all the conditions.

Eligibility to take CA CPT:

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • Applicants must be registered for the Common Proficiency Test with the Board of Studies of the Indian Chartered Accountancy of India (ICAI).
  • Even if candidates have already registered for the Professional Course, they are eligible for appearing in this test.

Application Details

  • Visit the official website of ICAI and register as a new user.
  • Fill up the registration details and click on the “Register” button.
  • Once the registration will be done, fill up the personal information in the form and click on the “Save Details” button.
  • After the registration, click on the “Apply Now” button and fill up the education details.
  • After reviewing all the filled in the information, save the form and make payment of exam fee and save the exam confirmation page as PDF.
  • Send the saved PDF file to the ICAI office on the address mentioned below:

EXAMINATION FEES

Candidates need to pay CA CPT Application fee to complete their registration process. The amount varies for candidates from different locations.  So it is essential for the candidates to carefully check application fee for their location and make payment. Candidates can make fee payment online by using VISA or Master debit/credit card. They can also avail the facility of net banking to pay CA CPT 2017 application fee.

Exam Pattern

CA CPT Exam Pattern

The CPT (Common Proficiency Test) is an objective type examination of 4 hours duration divided into 2 sessions of 2 hours each. The total marks for the test are 200.

First Session (Morning session: 10.30 am to 12.30 pm)

Section A – Fundamentals of Accounting (60 Marks)

Section B – Mercantile Laws (40 Marks)

Second Session (Afternoon Session: 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm)

Section C – General Economics (50 Marks) 

Section D – Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)

There are multiple choice questions with negative marking for incorrect answers. To clear the CPT, a student has to obtain a total of 50% marks in all the papers together.

The admission requirements for the second level of the course i.e. PCC (Professional Competency Course) require that the student should have qualified in the CPT. This level is thus the entry level for all the students including graduates.

Counselling/Interview

Candidates who successfully pass the written examination will have to check the result file to find their names. There will be no personal intimation for the counselling session. Candidates need to find their names along with the dates on the official website of ICAI. Candidates need to attend the counselling session as the given venue on the given date. 

Exam Centres

CA CPT exam is conducted at various examination centres across India. Candidates need to go to the examination center allotted to them. Complete details of the examination centres are given in the admit card. Candidates will not be given entry in any other examination hall than the one allotted to them.
