The facilities provided here are good. The food is poor and the placements of NIT Srinagar are below average since 2014. Since the medical facilities of the college are not up to the mark so students need to visit the Hospital outside the campus.

Beautiful, cool and calm place, perfect for studies. The only thing lacking at my time was the infrastructure. But since I left things have changed quite a bit. Lot of infrastructural changes are taking place and this makes me very happy being one of the alumni. Srinagar isn't a place like any other, no malls, theaters or pubs. It's more basic and rural. So you'll get driven to studies sooner or later. It's one of the good colleges in North India and has good reputation with most of the top companies, but it's difficult to get placed in core chemical companies. Lately not many chemical companies have visited the campus, I'm not sure about the current situation though, do check the college placement portal. People mostly go to other states and participate in campus placement drives there. But wherever you go you'll be respected for being from Nit srinagar. I'd suggest to go for this college, it's not the best, but the experience is very exciting and somehow everyone I know from this college has made it big.Campus Location Surrounding the college are Hazratbal Nigeen. There's Kashmir University nearby. The area is buzzing with people as there is a dargah nearby. Good market, can find anything and everything (except alcohol!), Lots of restaurants. Dal lake is nearby, Nigeen lake and Nigeen club are a treat! You'll find buses to any part of srinagar from dargah bus stop and can find a bus to hazratbal/University bus stop from any part of the city. But the buses don't run after around 8 pm, so if you get late hire an auto. There are no Ola or Uber cabs. There's one cab service called snowcabs, find there number on Google, they provide good service but not many people use them because of long waiting time, they're good only for pre planned trips. Airport is around 24 km away, any auto will take you there in around 1 and a half hours. You'll find daily flights to Jammu, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Bangalore. There is a railway station called Nowgam railway station, around 25 km away. Railways connect various parts of the kashmir valley but don't connect it to ladakh or Jammu. So use it to see places in the valley only. If you want to go to Jammu you'll find taxis in TRC in lal chowk costing around 600 per person till Jammu. From Jammu all the places of the country are connected by railway.Campus Facilities Wifi was available in the senior hostel only, should be in all hostels. Food is good. Classrooms give an archaic feeling but you'll fall in love with them. The labs are good. The library is the best. They're improving, so I expect a lot of changes soon.Campus Life Campus crowd makes you feel happy. Its the whole some feel of the people and place that's so delightful. Most of the times people are enjoying themselves in the canteen, playground or just roaming around the campus. You never feel tired in NIT Srinagar. Extracurriculars are also good, functions, farewells, techfests, debates, quizzes, cricket, football, tennis, basketball, tennis, except swimming pool you'll find everything. And if you really wanna swim you've got the Dal Lake just behind the college. But it's mostly cold so you won't want to swim anyway.Jobs & Internships Chemical engineering jobs are very less. Mostly they take up IT jobs. Other core branches do get excellent placements with 10+ LPA but unfortunately the trend is slowing down in case of Chemical branch in the last few years. IT jobs will give you a package of 3.5 LPA. CS and ECE people can get better offers from better companies. Electrical mechanical and civil get the best offers.Teaching Quality The permanent faculty is experienced, passionate about engineering and you'll love learning from them. Sometimes you might be taught by some young inexperienced Ph.D. scholars or contractual teachers, if you don't find them good that's where you must contact the HOD and get them replaced. Such things happen everywhere, you must have a good reputation with the permanent faculty and be inspired by them.
